Foxit Reader

Foxit Reader is an alternative or a substitute for Adobe Acrobat Reader software. Besides being relatively smaller in size, Foxit also has some cool features that are not available in Adobe or other PDF reader applications.

Its superior feature is that it can make PDF files from various other types of files quickly and easily. Either from image files such as JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP or MS Office documents in the format of word (doc, docx), excel (xls, xlsx), powerpoint (ppt, pptx). Another feature is as a virtual printer. With this feature, you can save web pages to PDF files.

Foxit Reader's Experience

The actual functionality is pretty straight-forward. It reads PDFs, and it comes with a PDF printer so you may really create PDFs at no cost, too. It supports a couple of optional features like filling out PDF forms, but for the most part it sticks to a single job and does it really well. You've got a choice between a contemporary ribbon user interface or a classic menu-and-toolbar interface. But before you download, there are two major provisions.

If you have never created a PDF earlier, the prospect might be somewhat daunting, and Foxit Reader's interface can appear overwhelming. While the appearance is not too far removed from that of Microsoft Office -- there is a very familiar ribbon toolbar in place, for instance -- it somehow manages to seem complex in a way that will be off-putting to some.

In regards to only viewing PDFs, Foxit Reader is easy to get into. A second row of tabs makes it easy to work with multiple files at the same time, and another toolbar -- vertical time -- allows navigation of bookmarks, tables of contents and so forth.

Foxit reader can run on all Windows OS including Windows XP, Windows 7, 8 or Windows 10 with a minimum RAM requirement of 512MB.
